Class Description - In this class you will be be creating scenes around your Magnolia Stamps using Copic Markers. We will be creating 5 different scenes using many different techniques. You will learn how to do the following with your Copics.

-using Mini Tilda as a Large Tilda's reflection in water

-creating water, pond, puddles

-blades of grass around an image

-dotted background

- creating and coloring hardwood floors

-creating and coloring tile floors

-creating a corner room for indoor stamps

-creating a meadow

-rain drops

-snow scene

So Magnolia-licious is going to kick off the holiday spirit with a super fun challenge for you to join in on! It's called The Wrapped Up Holiday Challenge because of the 2 stamps you will need to use in your challenge projects. You will need to use BOTH the Unwrapped and Wrapped Mini Tilda's in your projects BUT Magnolia-licious has these for a special bundle price of $8.99 for both HERE! (there are other Mini's bundled together as well but for this challenge you will need the ones mentioned above)

Magnolia-licious Easter-Spring Extravaganza Contest

Happy March all you Magnolia Friends! Yes Spring is finally on it’s way and we want you to celebrate the Spring Season with us! Magnolia-licious is having a fabulous EASTER-SPRING EXTRAVAGANZA CONTEST that you will NOT want to miss out on. WE HAVE MOVED OUT FROM OUR HOME.......

Yes we have moved out of home...the Magnolia-licious and Scor-Pal business. With now being the Distributor for North America for the Mini Magnolia stamps we are bursting at the seams. While I was in Sweden I received an e-mail from my husband telling me he had rented an office space...wow without even my consideration, lol !!! It is wonderful to have our Guest Room back. The 3rd bedroom will be my granddaughter's room.

Yes it took 4 of us to remove the shelves. From left to right, myself. my sister Debi, her daughter Sheila and my best friend Donna.

The moving crew...The men are my husband Roy on the left and Wayne, Sheila's husband.

The first shelf is in. It was my idea to shrink wrap the shelves so the stamps wouldn't go flying. Aren't I clever...lol.

Edited to add: Some of you have written to ask about my own craft room. I dare not show you a photo of my huge craft room, you would die and I would too, of embarrassment. Maybe I need an 8 man moving crew to help me with it but then the men would just groan the whole time. Can't you just hear them..."You need this and this and this and WHY?" They would never understand. Maybe when I have it clean and organized I might, I said MIGHT take photos.

LAND OF MAGNOLIA -GRAND PRIZE WINNER - MONICA MERKEL

Hello Friends, It is my very great pleasure to share with you today the story and project created by Monica Merkel, the Grand Prize Winner in the LAND OF MAGNOLIA CONTEST held earlier this year. Before I explain and show you Monica's project enjoy her wonderful story.

Land of Magnolia, is it real or a place that we hold in our hearts? From childhood to adulthood, we go on searching and searching for such a land. A magical place, that brings happiness and joy for those who dare to enter. Our dear Tilda’s and Edwin’s, dancing from the life we give them—colors and sparkles to make us giggly out loud. Visions in our heads of seeing Tilda in her garden, on her picnic quilt, basking in the sunshine with the birds and butterflies glowing around her. One can only wonder, what is she dreaming about? Could it be about cooking in her kitchen? Sautéing those mushrooms on her stove, or making a pumpkin pie for the holidays? Yes, we wonder about all of this when in the distance we hear music playing. We can almost see Tilda sitting up a little more and gently brushing off the single butterfly that landed on her knee as she looks around. Turning ever so slightly and seeing Edwin sitting on a log playing his guitar and tapping his foot. “Come on over” he yells to Tilda,” sing with me”. She gets up, goes dancing through the gate and giggles as she sits on the pile of hay next to Edwin.

“What are you singing about Edwin”? said Tilda. “Ah, nothing much, just how happy I am” said Edwin. “Yeah”, said Tilda, “if you could be doing anything right now, what would it be”? “I’m happy with you, BUT, if I had a second choice, I’d be down at the dock with my pole and pail of worm’s fishing.” said Edwin. Edwin starts singing and playing the guitar and Tilda smiles, thinking she is his first choice. She is really lucky to have such a good friend; they have done so, so many things together. Tilda is thinking back to her school days with Edwin, their graduation, the safari trip in the bus, all the animals they saw—even that huge waterfall !!! The Easter egg, how could she have forgotten about that? Edwin was so excited and proud when he had his picture taken holding the biggest egg found in the egg hunt---ah, how was he to know it really was a goose egg? Could it have been when Mother goose hissed at him and started chasing him? She giggles in her head when she thinks of those lazy summer days in the water, even floating in that tube was fun----but eating those ice cream cones was the best. Even Halloween, now that was an adventure with Edwin. If only she could have gotten him to ride the magic broom, or eat that special mushroom that she made just for him-- sigh—maybe next year. They sure were an odd sight—he with a green face and she with her green hair. Yep, she sure has done a lot with Edwin, even ice skating, throwing snowballs and making that snow angel in the snow. And on Christmas morning when Edwin snapped a picture of her sitting on the floor wrapping a present that she had forgotten to wrap. A smile comes on Tilda’s face thinking of Edwin playing the bartender at the New Years’ party……….

“Hey Tilda” yells Edwin, “aren’t you gonna sing with me”? “Yes” said Tilda giggling, but in her head she was thinking about all the new adventures to come in the Land of Magnolia.

The project consists of a "Chest of Drawers" and a series of "Story Plates" which are magnetized. The plate "sticks" to a magnetized easel on top of the chest, which folds down when not in use. There is also a huge selection of Tilda and Edwin images and accessory pieces which are also magnetized. You place these on the plate and create wonderful scenes that lead to a "story time" indeed. You can store the plates in the side cupboards and the images in the three drawers; packs away perfectly. Monica I can only imagine the hours of delight I will share with my granddaughter when she is a little older playing with Tilda and Edwin. You and your very talented husband, who you shared made the magical chest of drawers, have created an heirloom which our whole family will treasure for many years to come. Without further adieu ......the magic unfolds.

Magnolia Land Through The Seasons

Welcome to the divine place of Magnolia world.
Where day dreams and imagination twirl and whirl.
In this magical place don’t be surprised to find,
adventurous kids with wings, they’re one of a kind.
Here you find Tilda and Edwin who love to play,
with their friends at the barn, the park or by the bay.

During the months of spring, Tilda takes advantage,
to plant a garden with herbs, mushrooms and cabbage.
Eating warm soup is sure to take away the gloom,
that lets the kids enjoy spring in all of it’s bloom.
Fresh pink flowers cover the ground of a white church,
witnessing the marriage of two who've ended their search.
The season soon changes and new fun will ensue,
giving the children new adventures to pursue.

The summer brings them heat and also much delight,
that will leave them the bliss of a funky kite flight.
It’s in June that they find comfort with each other,
going fishing with their mother and their father.
They cant forget the worms if they want to make a catch.
They’ll cook up fish-n-chips and eat them by the batch.
Fun summer days are full of sunshine in July,
Edwin chases after a magic butterfly.
Yes, in the beautiful outdoors he spends his time,
but he’d rather get a drink with a little bit of lime.
Its off to get ice cream with Tingla in August,
they look after her much because she’s the youngest.
The season soon changes and new thrills will follow,
into the season that gives them creepy Eves Hollow.

Angel-children look forward to the colors of fall.
Picking the biggest pumpkin, they’re sure to have a ball.
By the town square with a rickety gate, a spooky house stands.
The children pass with closed eyes but their courage expands.
The autumn season will leave the children some frights,
but not without eating bags of sugary bites.
The season soon changes and new memories will be made,

These loveable little characters from the Land of Magnolia inspire us to learn new techniques and try different products. We learn about coloring mediums and types of papers and inks. We also learn about design and layout and yet we are learning a little about ourselves and what we are capable of making and learning.

So let’s travel into the Land of Magnolia to see what creative hair color Tilda might have from day to day and where Edwin might be hanging out.

Tilda is an avid card maker. She loves using the Magnolia images and coloring with Copics, Prismacolor Pencils with Odorless Mineral Spirits and Distress Inks. One of her favorite tools is the Scor-Pal that makes scoring on all her projects whether it is cards or 3d projects so much easier. Tilda knows a good thing when she sees it and can’t imagine not having one!!!

Many mornings, you will find Tilda waiting at the stone gate for Edwin to come by. She has made him a little heart surprise.

Edwin always appreciates the lovely creative things that Tilda makes for him. It makes him feel special.

Sunshine yellow is one of Tilda’s favorite colors. She has adorned her lovely little cottage with yellow flowers and her favorite dress, of course, is also sunshine yellow! It makes her feel so bright and cheery when she is surrounded by such a lively color.

Edwin is not without his own surprises! He loves to hide around a corner to see if he can surprise Tilda! Edwin might be quiet, but he is not always the angel he is supposed to be.

Sweets, sweets, sweets!

Tilda loves chocolates and candy hearts. No gummy worms for her. Besides she thinks chocolate candy is a requirement to have around when card making. She is not alone on that idea!!!

Tilda finds herself sitting in the pumpkin patch trying to decide which one would be the very best one. She wants to make Edwin her special pumpkin pie recipe so only the best will do!

Strolling through the garden looking at all the beautiful flowers, Tilda finds herself watching a butterfly or two and enjoys their pretty colors and how easily they float from one flower to another. She knows nature is a wondrous thing and shouldn’t be taken for granted by any of us.

One afternoon Tilda and Edwin decided to go on a mushroom hunt. They looked and looked but couldn’t find a single one. Tilda made the best of the day though and found lots of pretty flowers to fill her basket instead.

If I counted correctly Patti Jo used 18 MAGNOLIA STAMPS and two ALOTA STAMPS. Every page is adorned with the most beautiful little punched flowers. To say this is a masterpiece is a true understatement. Patti thank you so much for your wonderful creation! I can't wait for our granddaughter Sienna to be old enough to truly appreciate your beautifully illustrated story book. My husband Roy has actually asked to be the first one to read her your story. Our family will treasure this keepsake forever.

Magical Fairytale

Tilda is busy in her kitchen, preparing her picnic basket with enough food for her and Edwin to take on their trip. Edwin is in charge of all their outdoor supplies including the tent. They have gone on many adventures before, but this one is sure to prove to be the most exciting---they have heard of the stories from within the deep forest…….

“Tilda, I think you are pouting” said Edwin. “Well, yes I think I am, my feet hurt and I’m tired” snapped Tilda. Some adventure we are having thought Tilda, we walked all day yesterday making our own trail in these dark woods, then camped in the tiniest tent ever made and he had the nerve to wake me up when the birds started singing this morning, for what—more walking? Where are all those fairies and magical dandelions? “Alright, go sit on one of those logs over there and I will start setting up the tent, it is beginning to get dark now anyway” said Edwin. “Maybe all the stories we were told as children about the fairies capturing people and putting spells on them isn’t true” she said to Edwin. “Now don’t let your imagination go wild Tilda, just relax while I set the tent up” said Edwin as he gave her a wink.

As Tilda sat watching Edwin, she felt uneasy, like someone or something was watching them. She could hear Edwin humming; she started to yell over to him, and realized it wasn’t Edwin at all. She held her breath, her heart started pounding faster and faster, she tried to move and couldn’t. Oh Edwin she thought, turn around and look at me!!! The sound was getting louder and closer to her,—ribbet, ribbet,ribbet—it sounded like little ones and a large one. The leaves behind her made a faint rustling sound as the ribbets got closer. “Edwinnnn” she yells with a cracked voice. Edwin was at her side in a flash, “what is it Tilda, what is wrong—are you sick or did something bite you’? asked Edwin. “No Edwin, no” she said as she starting laughing and shaking, “but they are coming”. Tilda points up to the trees as the most beautiful butterfly seem to float directly down to them and is joined by a stream of butterflies and dragonflies, all sizes and colors. The fluttering of their wings is like listening to an orchestra. They are still standing in awe of the sight when 3 frogs jump out from behind the log. They both looked down to see the creature’s ribbeting and looking up at them. Tilda looks at Edwin and she notices a larger butterfly directly behind him. Edwin turns his head; the butterfly is shaped like a mini Tilda with wings. “My name is Mini, do not be afraid”, she said in a tiny voice “we have been watching over you for a day now and I have come to help you on your journey.” “Before we go, I want you to meet my sister, Fairydust and she will help”. “How?” said Edwin. “I will blow some of my fairy dust on you, and all the images that you see will be of you or Tilda—do not be afraid” said Fairydust as she blew the dust on them.

The butterflies and dragonflies surround Tilda and Edwin and carry them off with the fairies. The fairies clear a path through some covered shrubs leading down a hidden path in the forest. There is a magical glow ahead and the trees have been replaced with rows and rows of beautiful fantasy flowers in an array of colors. In the distance, they see rolling hills with a rainbow and a path. “Look Tilda” yells Edwin “the magic dandelions are along the path and they are moving”. “Oh Edwin” giggles Tilda, “that is because the frogs are chasing the snails through them”. Up ahead they see another fairy sitting on a mushroom.”Hi, you can call me Magic, and I have come to take you to the castle”. “I am wearing this crown on my head waiting for Prince Phillip the Frog to come so I can kiss him”. With that being said, she waves her wand and in an instant they are on steps leading up to the castle.

They are met at the bottom of the staircase by a Bubbling Tilda fairy blowing bubbles of assorted colors. “Welcome” she said in a soft voice, “have a sit in the armchair, our parade is starting in your honor”. Edwin and Tilda sit in amazement as they watch the most beautiful “Tilda Fairies” descend from the castle atrium down the stairwell to meet them. Dancing Tilda, Mid Summer Tilda, Ballerina Tilda and then Lady Tilda. Lady Tilda stopped to tell Edwin that there is a special surprise for him coming down the stairs ---Prince Edwin and behind him, Sherwood Edwin. Oh the fun they had that night and into the next day playing games, singing and exploring the castle and the Fairy Land with their new friends. They were playing hide and seek with Elf Tilda when a new beautiful fairy appeared. “I am called Spellcaster; I have come to take you home. You must not be gone too long, or people will come looking for you” she said ever so gently. Everyone came to say their goodbyes and to give hugs. Fairydust Tilda gave Edwin a hug and put some fairy dust in his hand telling him that it will help him find his way back to them. She hugged Tilda and whispered in her ear as she placed the dust in her hand also. Spellcaster waved her wand; Tilda and Edwin were back at their tent.

Edwin and Tilda sat by the fire that they built and talked about their adventure and how they would keep it to themselves and not tell anyone so that the Fairy people would be safe. Tilda thinks about what Fairydust whispered to her “Some people think we are just mystical but as long as you believe, we will be here.”

Seasons in Magnolia

It’s morning in Magnolia. Tilda has woken early and tiptoes to the window. The sun is peeking over the garden, promising a beautiful day! Warm breezes are drifting through the sheer, white curtains and Tilda smiles. Today is the first day of summer! She thinks of all the fun she and her best friend in all the world, Edwin, are going to have! Today, they are meeting by the garden gate after breakfast and start the day! Summertime is beautiful in Magnolia... the garden dances with sweet flowers of all colors and sizes and butterflies flutter from bloom to bloom. The bright blue sky welcomes the children as they walk to the park. Edwin loves running and getting dirty, while Tilda enjoys gathering flowers or pretending to be a butterfly exploring the fragrant petals. They happily play side by side in the warm sunshine, Tilda picking her bouquets and Edwin digging in the soft dirt for wriggling worms! He loves to tease Tilda by chasing her with his latest catch, but she knows he is just teasing her! Each summer day brings something different! Sometimes they swim in the pond near the woods, enjoying the cool, clear water. Sometimes they swing lazily, dreaming of days to come and making up stories to entertain each other. And sometimes they explore the forest, picking an occasional mushroom or two and spotting different creatures that scamper quickly from view. As the breezes grow chillier, Tilda knows it will soon be autumn! The leaves change into rich, beautiful outfits and they start to drift to the ground. The little ones have new ways to play now! They rake the leaves into a huge pile and jump! Edwin always jumps higher than Tilda, but she’s been practicing and may just beat him this year! The garden has changed, too. Bright oranges and yellows replace the pinks and purples as the pumpkins and squash ripen. Soon it will be time to choose their pumpkin for Halloween! It’s an important job to pick just the right one for carving!

Before long, the air becomes colder and snowflakes float from above! It’s winter! Magnolia becomes a magical wonderland as everything turns white with snow! The garden slumbers under a thick coat of snow, patiently waiting for spring... Tilda feeds the birds with crumbs left over from her morning toast and they chirp with pleasure at the yummy treat! Preparing for Christmas is the best part! A huge tree, glittering with lights of all colors, is decorated with tinsel and stars. Edwin climbs a ladder to add the beautiful angel and then the most important part, the nativity, is carefully arranged under the pine boughs. Then the fun begins! Wrapping presents! Edwin always shakes his gift, so Tilda is putting tiny jingle bells inside! Everyone will know when he is trying to peek! She giggles to herself as she ties the final bow! After the holidays, everyone starts wishing for spring! The children watch anxiously for the first signs, a purple crocus peeks through the snow and robins brave the weather to sing a sweet song. Soon the garden is a riot of color and Tilda and Edwin are back outside enjoying the sweet, fresh air. It’s spring! A time for new life and new hope. The chicks are hatching and little bunnies hop through the garden foliage. The sun glistens through bright, green leaves unfurling on the trees, leaving dancing shadows on the ground. And Tilda and Edwin begin their special project. They are able to know when someone outside of Magnolia is in need and they go to them on angel wings to offer encouragement and love. We may not be able to see them in our world, but they are here, symbols of happiness and hope for our future! And the seasons continue....

This book has a front and back cover with 6 inner pages. The pages are thick having layers of paper with embossed and scallop punched edges. The complete story has been written in the most beautiful "handwriting" and lovingly illustrated with our wonderful Tilda, Edwin and accessories. Sometimes things are popped up for dimension adding visual interest. The colouring is beyond belief.

Terri, your story book is magnificent! I cannot wait until my granddaughter Sienna is old enough so I may read your wonderful story to her and have her appreciate the work that has gone into this project. Please know your book will remain in our family for generations to come. We will treasure it always and a piece of you will live on forever!

My interest varies in different directions at any given time. My steady one is my Church. I am on the hospitality committee, and I am a Eucharistic Minister. I like a good joke and love to laugh, like to play jokes on people. I also love music, especially the blues, enjoy reading (can’t find the time too much anymore) did quilting for about a year, and then moved on to crocheting. In the two years that I was crocheting, I believe everyone got a scarf and an afghan. I then found scrapbooking and moved on to rubber stamps and cards. and rarely a cloud in it, I wish everyone could spend some time here in my paradise. Each season holds so much excitement and wonder, I can't wait to tell you all about the fun we have, my best friend Edwin and I.

Summers are always filled with endless sunshine, bright blue skies and so many colors you'd think we lived at the end of the rainbow! Once school is out for the summer, Edwin and I spend a lot of time at the pond. The pond is exactly seventy-three steps from the gate in our yard - Edwin and I counted last summer. Most days, Edwin fishes while I hunt for mushrooms. Sometimes, if it has rained, Edwin and I sneak into Grandpa Alf's garden to dig up worms for fishing. The biggest worms are always under Grandpa Alf's prized pumpkins. Other days we spend in the big field behind Edwin's house.

This year, Edwin got a new bug net and we spent lots of time trying to catch butterflies. Edwin's dog, Rufus, always barked and chased them away before we could catch any, but we sure did have fun! We’re not supposed to play in the garden. Grandpa Alf works hard each summer to grow a great big pumpkin to enter into the fall fair pumpkin competition. He hasn't won yet, but every year his pumpkins get bigger and bigger!

Fall in Magnolia is especially beautiful. The leaves turn different shades of copper, mustard and rust. I love when they fall to the ground and crunch under our boots as we walk to school each day. The fall fair is the last weekend in September and this year I am going to bake my first pie with Grandma Alva for the pie-baking contest and Edwin plans to play his guitar in the talent show.

Winter in Magnolia brings crisp cool air and snowflakes that blanket the ground and trees like fluffy white icing. I love waking up the morning after a big snow, the limbs of the trees covered in white and the whole yard looking so clean and inviting. When the snow is fresh and sticky, Edwin and I build snowmen and make snow angels. This year we are going to build two snow forts in Edwin's field so that we can have snowball fights! Once everything has frozen over, and the snow is crisp and crackly, we practice skating on the pond. Skating is my favorite winter activity.

Spring always brings with it a clean slate. The rain washes away the dirty snow and the puddles and brings with it the bright colors of the garden. First the crocus' pop up and then the Tulips. The air warms enough that we can shed our thick winter sweaters and put away bulky hats and mittens.
Every Spring Edwin and I decorate eggs for Easter, and Grandma Alva lets us make some chocolates for the Easter baskets. Edwin and I have to work really hard not to get dirty in the Spring! Sometimes, I forget my umbrella and we have to run home from school. Then we clamor into Grandma's house and warm up by the stove with a cup of hot cocoa. Before we know it, school is almost out and summer is upon us again.

The Archery Contest

The day was beautiful; the sun was doing its job, bright, sunny and warm with a gentle slight breeze. Tilda could hardly contain her excitement, today was the big Archery Contest. She had practiced with her bow and arrows until they had become like an extension of her own arms. Edwin had come through for her once again, teaching her everything that he knew about archery. First he taught her safety, then how to tune the bow and the most exciting part, how to aim and shoot the arrows.

Tilda had even made her own outfit with a holder for her arrows that would go around her waist instead of carrying them on her back. When she was shopping, she had found a pair of sandals with leather straps that went up her legs. She looked and felt like a Greek archer goddess, if there ever was such a thing.

People were coming from all over the Land of Magnolia to join in with the games, food and dancing. Why it was like having their own medieval festival! The town had prepared a section of the meadow for the contest. They placed bales of hay with bowls of strawberries on top for the contestants to munch on. All this was facing the edge of the forest where they had placed the targets on the trees. In the middle of the meadow, they placed tables with beautiful cloths on top. Each table had a variety of snacks for everyone, muffins, and slices of cake, peaches, and more bowls of strawberries. They even placed baskets of apples by the benches that were set up for people to sit and watch the contest, or just rest. The party area would stretch beyond the back of the meadow, up the beautiful rolling hills that lead down to the lake. Tables were set up there too, along with some swings hanging on the heavy branches, they even put up a bridge deck on the edge of the water for people to lean on or sit on. The bridge deck looked so good; they ended up putting a few more around the lake. The town had thought of everything.

Edwin would be playing his guitar and singing as he walked among the crowd of people. There was to be dancing and singing all day and into the night. Yes, Tilda was very excited; not only was she going to be in the contest but she was going to be in one of the plays that would be performing that night. Tilda was going to be the beautiful Spellcaster in a play called “Fairyland Magic”.

Tilda smiles as she hears her name called and said to herself, I have to stop thinking about all of the plans that were made and how it has all come together. She had blocked out all of the noise and laughter from all the people, now it was her turn ………….. She took a deep breath in and out, relaxed and smiled. Keeping her left arm straight out with her bow, she pulled her right arm with all of her might letting the arrow fly. The sound of the arrow hitting the target in the bull’s eye was everything that she had hoped it would be. She turned and saw Edwin smiling at her, the winner.

Tilda’s Surprise!

It was a beautiful day in the Land of Magnolia! So beautiful that the Maggie's, Edwin, Alf, Alva and their trusty canine friend, Rufus are throwing a surprise party for their friend Tilda! Tilda is everyone's best friend in Magnolia Land and she helps everyone out with anything that they need help with. Her friends decided she needed a huge thank you party, and the whole Land thought so too.

Tilda did not have any idea that her friends were going to have a party for her. She was busy at home cleaning her cozy little cottage. She was also watching her angel of a baby sister, Tingla. Tilda loved her baby sister and they did everything together! Tingla loves going for walks and she loves flowers. She also loves playing with the butterflies that are always flying around the Land of Magnolia.

Alva phoned Tilda earlier in the day and asked her if she would like to have a lovely picnic lunch with her in the garden. Tilda, not knowing it was actually a set up for the surprise, happily agreed to the picnic! Tingla was happy too, because she loved the beautiful garden that Alva takes such great care of.

Edwind, Alf and Alva were decorating the flower garden with lovely decorations such as glitter and flowers and Alva made a gorgeous center piece from a pumpkin. Mrs. Butterfly came by and gave them some lovely flowers she had found flying around on the other side of Magnolia Land. The wonderful sunshine made the flowers and mushrooms look extra bright and happy!

While Tilda was on her way, Rufus was putting the finishing touches on the garden gate. Everything was in place and the whole Land of Magnolia was there for their dear friend Tilda. Rufus was told to keep watch for Tilda.

Edwind suddenly remembered how much Tilda loves snow. He had a magnolialicious idea! They could fill a pail full of daisy petals and as soon as Tilda walked though the garden gate, while everyone was shouting "SURPRISE!” they could throw the petals in the air to make it look like a beautiful snowfall! Everyone got busy putting the little daisy petals in the pail. The worms, Liam and Lia, helped carefully uproot the delicate flowers.

All of a sudden Rufus came running into the garden barking, Tilda was here! Everyone got into their positions and waited...

The garden gate opened and there stood Tilda. "SURPRISE!” shouted everyone. The daisy petals were thrown up into the air and they fell softly down on the ground, making it look like snow. Tilda was surprised and was so happy that she had such magnolialicious friends to throw her such an amazing party!

ALTHOUGH JENNY'S ENTRY IS SAD AND BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES, IT IS VERY WELL WRITTEN. AS YOU CAN SEE THE PRESENTATION IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

As I look outside the window, watching the snow fall from the dark endless sky, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sadness. My grandmother is moments away from passing from this world into the next and the family has gathered to give her company and say their goodbyes. It isn’t right for these last moments of hers to have been spent indoors during this wicked cold. She should have been able to spend her days outside in the garden that she so loved.

I remember spending many hours in that garden with her, when I was a child and I would come visit her during my summer vacation. She taught me all there was to know about the art of gardening. She would grow everything from pumpkins to strawberries and flowers to fruit trees. I remember squealing in horror as my fingers touched a wiggling worm when I was pulling out weeds one day and my grandmother gently explained to me the purpose each worm had to the overall health of her little patch of paradise. Worms didn’t frighten me so much after that.

My grandmother was also a great children’s author and I do believe that she found her inspiration for her stories within the confines of her garden. Her stories were about a magical land called “Magnolia” were tiny little people lived and played. The main characters in her story were a brother and sister named Edwin and Tilda. She described them as little angels the size of a large butterfly. Her stories were very popular and well loved by children and adults alike. Tilda and Edwin would get into all kinds of mischief, not unlike regular children, the only difference was their small size and that they could fly with little angle-like wings.

According to her stories, the Land of Magnolia is a most wonderful and magical land. The flowers that live in this land are more vibrant then any flower on Earth, and they glitter and shimmer with their own inner light and the hummingbirds that drink from their nectar glow softly as a result.

The little bubbling brooks are filled with beautiful fish painted with every colour of the rainbow and the water’s edge and floor are lined with all sorts of precious stones including, rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds instead of rocks.

Another mystical aspect of this land is that little Edwin and Tilda are able to communicate with all the tiny creatures that inhabit Magnolia. Their puppy “Rufus” is more like a friend to them, then a pet, as are many of the other animals of the land.

One of my favorite stories of hers was the one about Edwin when he tried to prove to Tilda that he was a much better cook then she was. He had discovered a giant mushroom patch and decided he would show off his cooking skills by producing a most delicious homemade mushroom soup. Luckily before he caused too much damage he learned that this was no ordinary patch of mushrooms, but rather a little elf village that housed new found friends Alf and Alva, who had many adventures of their own.

I smiled fondly at the memory and vowed to read each and every one of my grandmother’s books to my own children before they outgrew such tales.

“Catherine?” My mother whispered as she gently tugged me away from the window. “Mom wants to see you now.”

I silently made my way to my grandmother’s bedroom, leaned over and kissed her check. “Hello, Grandma.” I said quietly.

“Catherine,” she smiled sweetly “It’s time to let me go. I know you worry about me, but don’t you fret Catherine, my dear, for I won’t be alone. My little Edwin and Tilda will be with me, I have been waiting a long time to see them and I am anxious to go.”

“Yes, grandma.” I said and frowned. I had so wished to have a meaningful goodbye, but it appeared as though her mind was slipping as well as her body. She was right about one thing though, I had been holding on to her. She had been sick for a long time now, but I was still unwilling to believe that my time with her was at an end.

“Don’t you frown Catherine, I’ll be just fine, you will understand.” she struggled to speak these last few words and pointed to her desk drawer, “In there is a key. Remember the little piece of my yard that is fenced off, near the back. The key unlocks the gate…” Her voice broke off, but I understood where she meant. I opened the drawer and picked up the key, but when I turned to thank her, she was already gone.

“Goodbye Grandma.” I whispered and stood there for several moments, tears streaming down my face, trying desperately to regain my composure before I went to tell the others that she had moved on.

I slept restlessly that night and as soon as the sunshine hit my window the next morning I was up and dressed and heading outside; key in hand. The snow crunched beneath my feet as I made my way towards the little iron gate at the far back corner of my grandmother’s property. As a child I had never questioned why I was not allowed to play beyond the fence, I just assumed it was just a patch of grass that she didn’t want little feet to trample on. When I opened the gate, however, I realized that I was entering a mini cemetery with only two small tombstones marking two small graves. As I approached the graves and read the markings upon them, I finally understood why my grandmother was so anxious to move on to the next world; for Edwin and Tilda were not just characters in her stories, but the children whom she had only known a day and longed to see again in heaven. I then realized that this garden was dearer to her then I could have ever imagined and it was at that moment, that I felt peace.

The Day the Stamps Took a Stand

Looking out my window, I knew something had to be wrong. I saw and fell the bright warm sunshine shining on my face. While this is not uncommon for any morning, I felt it strange that there was snow on the ground on this warm August morning. Chicago is known for its crazy weather and they say if you don’t like the weather, just wait for 10 minutes, it will change. In all of my life, I have never known it to snow in August in Chicago. Could I have slept through the rest of summer and fall? I know I was very exhausted when I went to bed but this really was strange. I rubbed my eyes and looked again. While my garden was full of mushrooms and pumpkins, I could see the worms peeking out from under the snow. Over the garden gate, I could see the butterflies fluttering by….wait what was that? As I peer out the window and strain my eyes to get a better look, I see it is a person. No wait it is two people. They are sitting on the bench in my yard. They seem to be talking and laughing and having a jolly time. Who are they and what are they doing here? Are they friends of my sons? Who let them in the yard? I couldn’t contain my curiosity any longer. I had to go and see who these people were and what they were doing here.

I rushed down the stairs and into the yard to where the strangers were sitting. I asked them what they were doing in my yard. “Denise I presume?” said the male person. “Yes” I replied. “Who are you and what are you doing in my yard?” “We have been waiting for you” said the girl. “We are Tilda and Edwin from the land of Magnolia.” I gasped when they said this because I didn’t recognize them from one of my favorite stamp collections. I was totally embarrassed and taken aback. “We had to come outside and get some fresh air” Tilda said. “Yeah , said Edwin, We got a bit cramped in that plastic box you store us in. We haven’t seen the light of day in about six months. We wanted to let you know that we are not happy and we don’t know how much longer we can stand it. We have heard the other stamps talking and we felt we had to warn you that they are planning a revolt. They are insisting that you spend more time with them and your craft supplies or they are packing up and leaving.” With that being said, they rose from the bench and fluttered off towards the sky.

I sat down on the bench in awe of what I had just been told. Has it really been that long since I have done anything with my crafts? Have I neglected my hobby? I returned to the house and sat at my computer. I browsed the numerous emails I have received and came across one from Diana Crick. She had come up with a contest using the words of the month in a story. I can do this I thought. I might even win a prize….of more craft and stamp stuff I can neglect. I hope I do win, but I hope this contest has brought about my need and desire to be creative once again.

Over the next few weeks I will share with you the stories and projects of the winners in the LAND OF MAGNOLIA contest.
Our first HONORABLE Mention story was written by our youngest contestant Hannah Bailey. She and her Grandma, Barbara Connelly worked on it together. I asked Hannah to share a little something about herself.

My name is Hannah and I'm 12 years old. I'm in 7th grade and I love to stamp!!!!!! I live in South Carolina; I have a mom, a dad, and a brother(14). At my middle school, my mom and I started a card club. We have so much fun, and afterwords, we give the cards away to soldiers, kids in the hospital, and people in nursing homes. When I stamp and make cards, I love to use Copic Markers!! They are amazing, and I love them so much!!!! Another thing that I really like to do is knitting and crocheting. It's really fun and I enjoy sitting in my room crocheting and listening to a radio show called Adventures In Odyssey! Right now, I'm making a crib blanket for my baby cousin, Charlotte. Also, as you can probably tell, I really like to write stories. I always have trouble finding books to read at my age. Either they are WAY too teenage(vampires and yucky stuff), or too young, so if I want to find the perfect book, I have to create it myself. Thank you so much Mrs. Diana!

     A Bake-Off in Magnolia Land

       There is a lovely little town in Scandinavia called Magnolia Land. And in Magnolia Land lives a sweet young girl named Tilda.

       Tilda sat in her room and watched the sun rise. When she heard her oven beeping she walked into the kitchen. Tilda turned the oven off, took the cowberry muffins out, and set them on the counter to cool. “Tilda, Tilda! Muffins!”, she heard her little sister Tingla call out from inside her nursery. As tired as she was, Tilda got up from where she was resting and picked up Tingla. “Come on my sweet little ANGEL, you can have one muffin, but no more, OK?” Tilda said.

        “OK!” Tingla said excited, but she took two anyway. “Oh Tingla! Those were for the meeting today!” Tilda said, distressed. “Oops,” giggled Tingla, putting one back. “What meeting?” Tingla asked, confused. “We’re trying to come up with fundraiser ideas for the town!” Tilda said. “Can I come? I want to eat the muffins!” Tingla asked. “OK, but maybe it wouldn’t be such a good idea to bring the muffins,” Tilda said thoughtfully. “Why not?” Tingla asked. “Can you keep a secret Tingla? I’m going to suggest we have a bake off to raise money, and I want to enter my secret recipe for the cowberry muffins.” Tingla looked confused, and wanted to know why the recipe was a secret. “Well, a long time ago our Mormor# Backstrom created the first cowberry muffin. She kept it secret for a long time, but finally passed it down through the family to us! There are lots of other versions of the cowberry muffin, but we think ours is the best! So do you promise to keep this a secret, Tingla?” Tingla nodded, and off they went to the meeting.

        As they walked out the door into the SUNSHINE and through the GATE, they took in the beauty of the SNOW-capped mountains in the distance and smelled the fresh pine scent that hung in the air. Tilda and Tingla took the scenic short cut through the park so they could enjoy the pretty flowers in the GARDEN. The BUTTERFLIES swarmed around the flowers to gather nectar.

      As Tilda reached the Town Hall, Mayor Edwin came out and greeted them.
“Come in, come in Tilda. Everyone is ready to start the meeting!” They all walked into the room, and sat down next to some of their friends from Magnolia Land. The discussion turned to fundraising ideas, and Tilda stood up and presented her idea of a bake off. Everyone seemed enthused by the idea, except for Annika. Annika was never known as a good baker, and she was hoping for a fishing tournament. In fact, she had already brought WORMS and fishing tackle for her presentation. When the vote was taken, the bake off idea won by a land slide! Everyone was anxious to get home and fine tune their special family recipes.

        The weeks passed with everyone in Magnolia Land baking up a storm! There were cakes and cookies of every kind and lots of pies, too. PUMPKIN pies seemed to be the favorite choice of many of the bakers, but there were even some savory recipes being tested. MUSHROOM Quiche was Annika’s mother’s special recipe but Annika, not being a great baker, had never had much luck with it. But she was giving it her best try this time and was hoping to take home a ribbon for her entry.

       Finally the day of the bake off arrived. All the townspeople were there, many of them carrying their entries into the contest. Alf and Alva greeted everyone at the door of the Town Hall and sold them ballots to vote for their favorite recipe. Poor Rufus had to wait outside. No dogs allowed!!

        The baked entries lined the table along one wall and what entries they were! It was certainly going to be hard to pick a winner, thought Mayor Edwin to himself. He called everyone to order and suggested that they begin tasting all the goodies, then the votes would be cast. Tilda and Tingla waited anxiously, watching everyone’s face as they bit into the cowberry muffins. Finally, there were only crumbs left and Mayor Edwin, Alf and Alva counted the ballots. And the winner was…

A Story from Tilda’s Diary

The rain is making a pinging sound as it bounces off the window outside of Tilda’s kitchen. The weathermen had said rain for two days and now three days have passed without any sign of letting up. Tilda has become restless and she walks around her table for the umpteenth time. She has made pies, homemade jam that she put in her special lace jars. She was even thinking about making one of her special 3 layer cakes or cupcakes or muffins----anything to take her mind off of this rain. Stop, she said to herself if I keep this up, I’ll be as big as a house in no time. Tea, I’ll have a cup of tea she thought, I love tea.

As Tilda sits at her table drinking her tea, her eyes wander over to her hutch where she has placed some of her larger lace jars. Ah, they look so nice, blueberry jam and peach jam, who would she give them to? As she is thinking about this, she notices one of her drawers on the bottom is not closed all the way. She goes over to the hutch and tries to push it in, darn she thought, something must have gotten lodged behind it. She sits on the floor and pulls the drawer completely out and almost has to lay on the floor to look to see what is blocking it from closing. A book !! Tilda puts her arm all the way in and grabs the book, why it is my lost diary she thought. Putting the drawer back, she goes over to the table to finish her tea and starts to look through her diary.

Tears are now in Tilda’s eyes as she reads her diary. She had found what she wrote about her Easter last year with Edwin. The pages have become blurry from the moisture in her eyes and a single tear drops onto the page. Softly and lovingly she wiped the tear drop from the page as she read:

April 12, 2009

Dear Diary,

It is Easter Sunday and I am waiting for my best friend, Edwin to come and get me. We are going to the Easter parade and then an egg hunt . Edwin has already told me that he will get the biggest egg again this year!! We’ll see. I have to go now Dear Diary, he is here and he looks so cute, he has on his overhauls and is carrying an empty basket!! He is yelling for me now, so I have to go and I will write and tell you all about it when I get home. Signed Tilda.

Dear Diary,

I had such a wonderful day. Everything was perfect, just hope I’m not too tired to write it all down. When Edwin first saw me, he really laughed and said “Now Tilda, you’re really not going to wear that chicken outfit are you?” I kidded with him and told him I had a bunny one and he said no way—he told me to dress normal. We both laughed and I ran and changed.

All the things that we did Dear Diary, will be with me forever. I wore my pretty new dress with the apron and everyone said I looked beautiful. I forgot my basket, so I used my apron to hold the eggs I collected. At one point, Edwin said I looked pretty and put a flower in my hair too. Then all of a sudden, one of the eggs started to hatch and a new baby chick was born. Edwin took my picture, but my flower had fallen from my head and I was upset. Edwin told me not to worry; he would get me something else. I am glad I brought extra clothes with me, because there was an egg painting contest and I won Dear Diary, I won!! Then they had an egg hatching contest with large plastic egg like shells, we laughed and laughed and had so much fun. We played over by the lambs and Edwin told me that I looked like a shepherd. I think that was a good thing Dear Diary.

The day was coming to an end, the parade was exciting and I had so much fun. We all played games and climbed on the new spring fence that was built for the parade as the rooster chased us and we laughed and laughed. It was time to go home and Edwin told me to wait a minute and ran off in a hurry. When he came back, he gave me a spring bundle of flowers. “Happy Easter Tilda, this is for the flower that you lost from your hair” he said to me. Edwin is always full of surprises and guess what Dear Diary; he did find the biggest egg again this year! All the things that he does could never compare with how big his heart is. I am going to place one of my flowers here with you Dear Diary to keep it safe for me.

Good night Dear Diary, signed Tilda

Tilda was still holding the dried flower in her hand as she finished reading her Easter story. With a deep breath, she carefully replaced the flower in her diary and thought about how lucky she was to have Edwin in her life. She wipes away her last joyful tear and smiles.

The rain didn’t seem so bad now, maybe she would give Edwin a call and see if he wanted to come over and have some pie with her.

Today's Award of Excellence goes to Lori Ng. I loved everything about Lori's card and how beautifully it all came together with great attention to detail. The flowers not only add color but dimension too as they encircle the card front. This is also one of my favorite card styles, the Easel card. Beautiful work Lori!

On the right is my younger sister Debi, my best friend Donna (we have known each other for about 35 years), moi and Debi's daughter Sheila. The delightful pink Magnloia purse was made by Jacqueline Beddingfield. She was my Secret Sister. Hi from the gang!

I immediately fell in love with this card the moment I saw it; the warm, vibrant colours attracted my eye. Upon closer inspection I could see the colouring was superb. Lisa Cook made this Valentine for husband and this is what she said.......

"I don't usually make cards for my hubby since I can't ever figure out the neat sayings for inside. I thought this one was just so cute I could live without all the sweetness in the saying. I'll figure out something good to write hehe. I used the kissing Tilda and Edwin. They are perched on the stone wall, but I extended it a little bit. They would fit on the one as stamped, but I wanted it to be a little longer with my background. I just put the seam under Tilda and you can't even tell :) I colored all of this with Copics. For the background piece I used a paint brush, re inkers (B21, YG93, and colorless blender) to paint it. The white highlights are from Copic Opaque White paint. Their little Valentines are brads. Their hands are cut out and raised with dimensional. I also raised up the entire stone wall with dimensionals. I had a blast creating this! I hope he likes it".

PAPERWORLD, FRANKFURT, GERMANY 2010

CHA finished up on the Wednesday afternoon. At 4am Thursday we began the journey to Frankfurt. We flew Anaheim, to Seattle, to Paris to Frankfurt, Germany. It was now 11am Friday. We checked into the hotel, very nice room but funnily two 3/4 size beds with the most enormous, flat, feather pillows I have ever seen. I swear they were 3 feet x 3 feet...lol. We met Kitty Franken, our Dutch interpreter at the hotel. Kitty does a lot of tutorials for Scor-Pal and it is was neat to finally meet her. After we had all unpacked we took a taxi to the Convention area. It was HUGE about 10 buildings, double and triple storied. Luckily Roy had the info as to which building was ours. Duh, we had brought the wrong section of the pass we needed so Roy had to go back to the hotel. Off we went to find our booth and did the set up.

Thank goodness Isabelle in particular was with us as we certainly needed someone who knew the German language. She brought many "important" people to meet us and we made valuable contacts.

Kitty was an excellent demonstrator, very outgoing and approachable. Both were lovely people!!!

The show was very unlike CHA. The attendance was much larger than CHA was about 85% men in "suits". That is what they are called...."suits" and usually high up in the company organization.

From what I could see only two booths showed rubber stamps. We were on the Creative Floor and Paperworld itself was in two buildings, all 2-3 floors. There were a lot of companies selling art supplies, high quality paints and brushes. Here are some photos of the other booths, all very professional, no curtains dividing booths like CHA all solid walls.

This booth was selling very high end pen sets and leather portfolios....

A whole floor was devoted to companies selling back packs, Hannah Montana and other American theme items.

It was very cold and snowed each day, apparently very unusual for Frankfurt...

The show ran from Saturday to Tuesday. Wednesday we were up very early and began the grueling journey home. Thank goodness we had enough air mile points to fly Business Class. We flew Frankfurt to Paris, to Houston, to Seattle to Vancouver, 24 hours 18 of it in the air. It took me more than a week to recover! I hope you have enjoyed the photos.

Our sides hurt from laughing!! They are such lovely gals. It was my first meeting with Kerry and she is as fabulous in real life as her creations.

We exhibited at CHA in Anaheim at the end of January. We showcased our newest product Scor-Buddy. Here is a video from CHA http://scrapbookdimensions.com/online/scor-pal/

While at CHA we got to meet some of the staff from Magnolia Sweden. We had a lovely dinner with John and Barbro. Pauline is the designer of the Magnolia stamps, John is her step-father and Barbro is her mother. Tilda and Edwin are Pauline's children and I got to see a photo of them. Edwin is 8 and Tilda 5. Edwin is quiet, studious, loves to draw and Tilda is very active. It was wonderful to see our beloved Tilda and Edwin in real life. A stamps in the Raising the Ceiling Collection is Wilma the dog, she is named after Barbro's dog. As you can see it is a very family oriented company. I got to learn some of the ins and outs of the company which was fascinating. I was allowed to choose for myself one of the cards on display. This is the one I chose. It is a step card. I will take a photo of the whole card for you. It is a magnificent card and when they said I could choose I knew exactly which one I wanted. It is water coloured with re-inkers.

This amazing card "Tilda's First Snow" was created by Angie Hunt. Angie has only been working with Copics for two months and was introduced to Magnolia's only a month ago. When I spoke with Angie it seems the love affair with "Maggies" has begun. We all know how that happens.

I chose her card for the Award of Excellence for a number of reasons.

First, the superb colouring. I think you will agree it appears a seasoned Copic user created such CardART.

Second, how she created Tilda to be the focal point by adding the perfect size print for each layer of paper. When you mix prints also vary the scale of the pattern. The colour of the papers do not compete with the image but enhance it.

Third, I love the dimension she has created by adding the snowflakes and the snow on the stone wall.

Fourth, the addition of the little white lines, not too many as this can over power the image and it is easy to get them in the wrong places. Remember they are a highlight, emphasize on "high" meaning the light part of your image versus the shadowed area.

Fifth, embellishments are not overdone. Sometimes when too many embellishments are used you overcrowd the image and it no longer becomes the focal feature. Embellishments add interest but should not become the main stay of the card if you are using a stamped image.

I could go on but I think you can see why I chose to feature Angie's card. It is stunning! Be sure to leave her a little love.

Hello everyone,
I have a terrible cold at the moment. My dear granddaughter gave it to me! I had a dental appointment today and they wouldn't see because of it. I was a bit bummed, they wear masks and gloves. I crawled out of bed to go as wehave had to re schedule this appointment 3 times for some reason or another.

We leave for CHA on Friday. My friend Donna, who is helping me, will get all the orders packed tomorrow for shipping on Friday. I know Magnolia Sweden is ready to announce the next Collection but they are having major computer problems. If it is released while I am away I will try to get the images in the store for Pre-Orders.

I had so much fun visiting the blogs of the Design Team. Were their creations not amazing? Now that the hop is over I thought you might like to see all of the cards in one place.

I am very excited to take part in my very first Blog Hop. The "Pretty in Pink" Blog Hop is hosted by the Design Team for Magnolia-licious. You have been on a very exciting and hopefully inspiring journey viewing all the wonderful "Pink" creations. I humbly submit my creation. Since discovering Easel cards it is all I seem to make. I LOVE THEM and they provide many different options. Instead of attaching a square of card stock to your easel try adding a whole card.
For my card I chose paper from the Magnolia Collection "Yummy for Your Tummy". It is a lavender pink checked paper that matched perfectly to SU Pale Plum. The flower image is from "Lazy Summer Days" Collection #427 Lazy Summer Flowers and #222 Bunny Tilda Check out #224 Lazy Summer Tilda. For a quick and easy card combine Tilda with the flowers.

Isn't this an absolutely stunning card! Debra James created this wedding card to celebrate her daughter's wedding. She chose these two Magnolia stamps as they are so like the newlyweds. By giving #3009 Christmas Morning Tilda a bouquet she was able to use her as a Bride and Edwin looks so dapper in his suit. Edwin is from the St. Patricks Day Collection which is on order.
